Sweet, But Don't Eat

I've been getting lots of samples in the mail lately, mostly small containers of things like antiperspirant deodorants (does someone know something I don't?), body wash (used to be known as soap), and lotions of all kinds. Even household products like detergents and fun things like candles. In the mailbox today was .50 oz.of Dove Cool Essentials Deodorant, Cucumber and Green Tea Scent. Yesterday I needed some body wash and found myself surrounded by row after row of fruit and veggie scented ones. It got me thinking about how the cosmetic, personal products, and household cleaner industry has changed lately, from items with scents such as Sea Breeze, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, and many others, to food aromas. Of course, lemon and orange scents have been around for a long time. However, my mouth doesn't water at the smell of Lemon Pledge. In the store yesterday, I was almost glad I didn't have a small, just-learning-to-read child with me as that child would have been clamoring for chocolate, raspberries, strawberries, ginger cookies, and lots more just by reading the labels.

Since I'd just noticed this change, I wondered if others had as well, so did my normal Google-hopping, and sure enough, found all this.
